A map can impart complex, detailed information quickly. Zhu and Cole (1996)present 2 maps in their paper. Their innovative item map has already appeared inRMT (9:2 p. 438). In their other map (reproduced here) they summarize the demographic complexion of their research sample and their test content in one compact Figure. Since this sample is of young children, the age column is in years. Notice how the later years are closer together. This reminds us how to difficult it is to make up for a pre-school deficit, in this case, in motor development.
