Researchers in the Center for Performance Assessment at ETS have employed Rasch measurement in K-12 assessment research for some time now. We have used the Facets computer program in our research on Pacesetter Spanish, National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Visual Arts, California Learning Assessment System (CLAS) language arts and mathematics portfolios, and the Advanced Placement (AP) Studio Art portfolio assessment. Many states use Rasch measurement techniques to analyze data from their assessment programs. Robert Wetter and Sue Rigney from the State Department of Education in Kentucky have done interesting work, as has George Engelhard, Jr. in Georgia.
