Classroom Measurement

The efforts of Bruce Choppin to propagate Rasch techniques throughout the world continue to bear fruit. A case in point is the volume of research papers published by Rasch practitioners in South-East Asia. The volume commences with a discussion by K.C. Cheung of how measurement and testing in the classroom can be made more meaningful though applying qualitative interpretation to quantitative data. K.W. Koon and Cheung then use a multiple-choice test on fractions to construct a part-whole concept continuum in mathematics. Demonstrating the versatility of Rasch techniques across content areas, S.K. Cheung and M.L. Choo use a different approach to examine a proposed hierarchy of language skills. Lastly M.L.Choo and K.C.Cheung describe an innovative computer programming anxiety scale and protocol, and analyze the results when it was administered to junior college computer science students. This thought-provoking volume of papers is indexed on ERIC as ED326544 TM015767.
